Roasting Pig Using Delicious Classic Marinade & Sauces

roasting pigBarbecue parties have long been a part of our family traditions. Regardless if we roast a pig in whole, in part or whether we go for beef, seafood or vegetable, every American family looks forward to delicately cooked dishes that ooze with flavor! Aside from the popular Cuban-style mojo sauce that you use to spice up your food, there are lots of other marinades that you can actually use.

1. Pineapple Marinade

A pineapple marinade adds a fruity flavor to your grilled dishes. It’s a concoction of crushed pineapple, honey, soy sauce, cider vinegar, garlic, ginger and powdered cloves. This is best for use with chicken.

2. Lemon and Rosemary

Combine lemon, rosemary, olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper and you’ll surely add a lime-herb taste to your dish. This goes well with chicken but may also be used in other types of meat.

3. Bulgogi

If you’re looking for Korean flavors, try a bulgogi marinade. It’s a combination of sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, scallions, black pepper, toasted sesame seeds and the country’s trademark sake wine. To make it more Korean, serve your BBQ with lettuce and rice on the side!

4. Mexican

Who doesn’t love Mexican? Mix cider vinegar, olive oil, cilantro leaves, garlic, lime, black peppercorns, cumin, dried oregano, lime juice and salt. This sauce is best for lamb, pork and beef.

5. Teriyaki

Teriyaki, a cooking technique that originated from Japan, involves the use of soy sauce, mirin (a certain type of rice wine) and sugar. To make a teriyaki marinade, mix soy sauce, sugar, water, distilled white vinegar, vegetable oil, onion powder, fresh ginger, garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce.

6. Classic Steak

If you want to grill steak, combine red wine vinegar, cooking oil, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, dried oregano, thyme and salt. Make sure that the oil is extra light olive oil or avocado oil to make the steak smoke.

7. Greek Marinade

To give your BBQ a Greek twist, combine lemon juice, olive oil, thyme, oregano, bay leaf, garlic, salt and pepper. Let the meat soak in the sauce for a while to let the flavors sink in. This is best for lambs but is also great for beef.

8. Jamaican

Infuse Jamaican flavors into your grilled dishes, mix scallions, onion, oil, white vinegar, hot pepper, thyme leaves, salt, black pepper, nutmeg, hot sauce, cinnamon, sugar and Jamaican pimento. Blend all the ingredients using your blender or food processor until the mixture is smooth. This marinade adds a little zing to all kinds of meat and poultry.
